This wine is rich and intense! The vines are between 80-145 years old. The wine has good impact with notes of black currant, plum (dark fruit), herbs and coffee notes with a pleasantly spicy finish. Very well-balanced tannins. Stored for 18 months in 60% steel tanks and 40% oak barrels.

The wine goes well with various meat dishes (lamb, beef, duck) and generally barbecue food.

DECANTER has given the wine a platinum medal.

Mas Lasta is run by Anne-Laure Sicard, who says:

“After my agronomic engineering studies and my oenology diploma in Montpellier, my passion for the vineyards and my love of wine took me around the world (Australia, Spain, Uruguay, Canada, New Zealand, and a few French wine regions). I finally settled in Saint Privat on the high country Terrasses du Larzac in 2015. I started up with 8 hectares of old, forgotten vines, planted in sandstone soil and my ambition was to bring this high-lying terroir back to life.

Being a fighter by nature (I am a fan of France’s women’s rugby team known as “les affamées” meaning “hungry women”), I started on natural viticulture by converting the vineyard to organic farming. The Terroir is tough, but I’m even tougher and I’m always busy doing something! After planting another 4 hectares, I plan to diversify the vineyard by adding fruit trees and starting a partnership with a sheep grower.”
