Pleasant notes of dark fruit and white pepper. An intense taste of black currants and plums with elegant Mediterranean herbs and hot spices. Gentle tannins with a mineral finish. Very complex and elegant.
The wine goes well with various meat dishes and food from the grill.
Mas Lasta is run by Anne-Laure Sicard, who says:
“After my agronomic engineering studies and my oenology diploma in Montpellier, my passion for the vineyards and my love of wine took me around the world (Australia, Spain, Uruguay, Canada, New Zealand, and a few French wine regions). I finally settled in Saint Privat on the high country Terrasses du Larzac in 2015. I started up with 8 hectares of old, forgotten vines, planted in sandstone soil and my ambition was to bring this high-lying terroir back to life.
Being a fighter by nature (I am a fan of France’s women’s rugby team known as “les affamées” meaning “hungry women”), I started on natural viticulture by converting the vineyard to organic farming. The Terroir is tough, but I’m even tougher and I’m always busy doing something! After planting another 4 hectares, I plan to diversify the vineyard by adding fruit trees and starting a partnership with a sheep grower.”
